INSTRUCTORS

Marika Gruber :

Born and raised in Sweden,  she has spent many years in New York, Miami and Paris before finally settling down with her family in the South of France,  where in 2006 she founded a Pilates studio in La Colle sur Loup. She and her husband have since then opened the first classical Pilates studio, Absolut Pilates, in the center of Antibes.

Marika, is an advanced level (PPS III) Pilates instructor (she trained  with master trainer Eduardo Laranjeira) certified by Peak Pilates to work with the Mat, the Cadillac, the Reformer, the Chair and the Barrels.

In 2013 she completed the Masters program run by  The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado, which is considered “the Harvard” of all Pilates schools.

Every year she refreshes her expertise by attending workshops with world-renowned master trainers (Amy Alpers Taylor, Deborah Kolwey, Rachel Segel Alpers, Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle, Michael Fritzke and Ton Voogt etc.) in order to retain her status as a high-level trainer.

Many years of dance and sports have given birth to another passion; that of complete body and mind health, and her sincere wish now is to share her knowledge with others to help them feel stronger, healthier and happier.

A “breast cancer surviver” herself, she continued to practice Pilates, both during and after treatment and this practice helped her to regain full flexibility and a range of motion in areas affected by the surgery. She hopes that her own personal experience will now enable her to help other breast cancer patients to regain their strength, self-esteem and quality of life.
